Big City - Ressurected!

Like a Phoenix the city of Mega Tokyo has risen from the ashes of the devastating second great Kanto hell quake. Mega Tokyo has since become the most technologically advanced city in the world whose presence manipulates the economic growth of the planet to a large extent. But what caused the disaster? Just another freak act of nature? Or was the quake caused by some other means?

Mega Tokyo is far from without its problems though. The mass devastation caused by the quake led to a technological explosion in an attempt to rebuild the city. Through this desperate need for reconstruction one particular company, GENOM, made its presence felt in Mega Tokyo. Now the greatest economic power on the planet, GENOM had taken advantage of Mega Tokyo's crippled state through the introduction of the Boomer; a synthetic biomechanical organism, a fusion of microelectronics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and living tissue. More efficient then humans, and good substitutions for hazardous tasks, the Boomer was introduced thus allowing GENOM to corner the construction industry.

Deal with the devil

This hastily developed technology, all though kept on a tight leach by GENOM, had its faults, mainly a tendency to run amok thus bringing to light the all too common phrase 'Rogue Boomer'. When Mega Tokyo sold its soul to GENOM, it also took on the problems associated with a power hungry mega corporation blindly pushing forward the limits of technology without considering the potentially drastic consequences of its actions. This decision alone left Mega Tokyo headed towards an unavoidable crisis. It soon became clear that the police couldn't cope with any Boomer rampages. To combat the situation, the city setup an Advanced Police force, the AD police. Setup primarily to deal with riots and terrorism, the AD police soon found themselves on the front line against defective Boomers. The AD police were to have military spec weapons, armoured vehicles and powered armour allowing them to bring down rogue Boomers, or so they thought.

Bursting bubble, the beginning of the end

Not content with just making their millions through mere construction projects, it didn't take long for GENOM to start diversifying into other, not so legal, areas of trade such as Illegal arms sales. This lead to the production of the combat Boomer, amongst other products, and since GENOM took up a neutral roll, selectively selling combat Boomers to both sides, in any war, the mega corporation found it could swing the outcome of a war, or give neither side an advantage, and so lead to increasing Boomer sales. Of course GENOM is a respectable company, likes to maintain a good image and is able to cover up most incidents via puppets in powerful positions, assassinations or by throwing their weight around and applying pressure. Hence convicting GENOM of its numerous crimes tends to be an impossibility.

This leaves the AD police having to deal with the prospect of rampaging combat Boomers, but what happens when the AD police can't cope? Who's gonna stop the city from getting trashed?
