Bubblegum Crisis Synopsis Episode 1 - Tincel City
Bubblegum Crisis kicks off with a new type of Boomer on a savage rampage in down town Mega Tokyo. Set against the hard rock soundtrack of Priss and The Replicants performing live at the Hot Legs club, the AD Police find themselves getting a severe trashing at the hands of the renegade Boomer. Only the abrupt intervention of the Knight Sabers leads to the downing of the renegade Boomer. This latest display of anti-Boomer savagery generates an interest within the ranks of the USSD who are in need of such allies. Infiltration by a suspected Boomer, F. G. Frederick posing as a computer technician, has lead to the disappearance of their latest exotic weapon; Cynthia, a killer doll Boomer capable of targeting / discharging any of the 200 + orbital particle beam satellites owned by the UN. With each satellite weapon boasting a killing radius of up to 1000Km, the USSD desperately want to retrieve Cynthia. This leads to the Knight Sabers' first big job, 20 million yen is at stake, followed by a further 20 million if the Knight Sabers can discover the party responsible for masterminding the whole kidnapping affair. Whilst working undercover on the job checking out possible leads, Priss unknowingly draws suspicion towards herself, gets beaten up and, whilst faking unconsciousness, finds herself being carted off to Aqua city by Cynthia's abductors. Not taking to the idea of being kidnapped, Priss kicks up a fuss leading to the abductors' car running into a motorway barrier, overturning and generally causing a mess. Fortunately she survives the crash, steals a nearby motorcycle, claiming to its hapless owner that she'll bring it back, and races off to Aqua city in search of Cynthia with a single surviving Boomer, from the crash, in hot pursuit. With Priss missing and having learnt of a firefight headed towards Aqua city, the remaining Knight Sabers head off to the city in order to investigate the situation. There, the Knight Sabers face off against F. G. Frederick, who turns out to be a FUSION Boomer, and his henchmen, but will the Knight Sabers be successful in rescuing little Cynthia? Episode 2 - Born to Kill
Naturally, having had a satellite weapon fired at them which destroyed Aqua city, the Knight Sabers are interested in knowing Cynthia's true purpose in life. The USSD, feeling a little guilty for not having informed the Knight Sabers of Cynthia's capabilities earlier, finally confess, however, it now seams that although Cynthia was rendered useless by the satellite attack, her black box satellite targeting device survived the devastation intact. Unfortunately though the USSD were beaten by GENOM in the salvage operation, and so understandably are desperate to retrieve their stolen black box which leads to a follow up job for Sylia's team. Executive Brian J. Mason at GENOM, however, has other plans in mind for Cynthia's Black Box, such as installing it into the brain of his newest project; the super Boomer. Despite an earlier setback for the project, which resulted in the accidental death of several top GENOM scientists, Mason becomes more determined than ever to get his project completed stopping at nothing and hence putting an end to anyone who tries to get in his way. Sadly, Irene Can, originally named Irene Chang, a dear friend of Linna ends up as one such victim. Her boy friend was one of the late GENOM scientists and Irene, whilst seeking answers to her lover's death, unfortunately gets a little to close to exposing the incident. Saddened by Irene's death, Linna turns to her team mates for help in tracking down Irene's killer, this leads to a show down with Mason's latest killing machine at an old GENOM research facility in Kawasaki. The Knight Sabers are just carrying out their job, the retrieval of Cynthia's black box, but for Linna this one's personal. Episode 3 - Blow Up
GENOM's latest project involves terrorising the inhabitants of district 3 with battle Boomers. With a severe lack of law and order, GENOM believe the inhabitants will want to sell off their land quickly and cheaply allowing the mega corporation to buy up all of district 3 to carry out their latest development plans. Setting their plan in motion, GENOM unleash a single BU-12B battle Boomer upon the district and so to combat the situation the AD Police engage the enemy Boomer with two K-11 powered suits. Although both the powered suits end up severely damaged, they do, however, manage to destroy the target. Although the AD Police manage to bring down the Boomer, they do so only after the Boomer successfully carries out its mission; to cause wide spread panic amongst the inhabitants and large amounts of structural damage to the city. Unfortunately Sylia's Silky Doll lingerie department store / secret base for the Knight Sabers is also damaged by the firefight. Although Sylia knows that Mason is behind the attack, she puts the incident behind her whilst having to restrain Priss from doing something stupid at the same time. GENOM finally receive Governmental approval to go ahead with their planed development, which has been delayed for some time now, of district 12, a site consisting of low income apartments. This particular district is home to Priss and a small boy named Sho who Priss regularly looks after when his mother is late home from work, and in doing so has grown very fond of him. When GENOM construction workers arrive on the scene and start demolishing the old apartments, under Mason's orders, Sho's mother runs back into her apartment to get her savings; her ticket to a dream of a better life in the country for Sho and herself. This turns out to be a big mistake! In fact the last mistake she'll ever make as part of her apartment's ceiling gives way and falls crushing her to death. Priss runs frantically to help Sho's mother, but it's too late. There's nothing Priss can do now except suit up and confront Mason. To Priss's surprise, the other Knight Sabers join her crusade having decided that they've had enough of Mason's schemes. This leads to another show down with GENOM, but this time the battlefield is the top of the GENOM tower itself where Mason is waiting to greet the Knight Sabers personally. Episode 4 - Revenge Road
With Mason out of the scene, the city quietens down leading to a well earned break for the Knight Sabers, at least that's the theory. Instead Sylia has the team spending its time on mock war games to keep them up to scratch., of course this isn't going to last, as is the case when a remodelled antique Griffon sports car starts creating a name for itself on the streets of Mega Tokyo. The Griffon is making frequent appearances at night trashing local Outrider biker gangs, casualties are rapidly increasing with each Griffon sighting and the Highway Patrol can't cope. Priss, whilst on her way home from a night out with the team, finds herself unwillingly caught up in one of the Griffon's private Outrider battles. Priss isn't the type to walk away, though this time she has no say in the matter when, whilst chasing after the Griffon, she is thrown off of her bike due to a mechanical failure. Linna takes Priss to get her injuries, past and present, checked out by a specialist at the local hospital. There they notice a man comforting a woman in a wheelchair who is freaking out due to the sound of passing bikers revving their motorcycle engines. Priss gets a hunch and decides to inlist Nene's help in an investigation of her own. Nene smuggles Priss into AD Police HQ where they, mainly Nene under Priss's supervision, start snooping through the AD Police's database in search of answers. They discover that only a hand full of Griffons still exist within the city, one of which happens to be owned by the man Priss saw at the hospital. In fact this is the same man who appears in a photo at Dr. Raven's garage. Apparently the man, J. B. Gibson, and his girlfriend, Naomi Anderson, were attacked by a gang of Outriders months ago whilst driving Gibson's Griffon. Although Gibson's injuries as a result of the attack were physical, Naomi's were mental. She saw the whole attack leaving her in shock followed by a permanent state of semi-consciousness. Dr. Raven tells Priss that he mistakenly helped Gibson modify his Griffon thinking he was just working on a hobby car. Now Dr. Raven thinks Gibson is about to go and do something stupid and so asks Priss for the Knight Sabers help. Sylia accepts Dr. Ravens free Motoroid upgrades as payment and dispatches the team, however, Nene stays behind at AD Police HQ informing Sylia of events. Apparently the AD Police are way ahead of the Knight Sabers this time round and have established a massive road block, consisting of metal scrap, which they intend to chase the Griffon into. Whilst accompanying her boyfriend in the Griffon, Naomi's shock passes when she realises what Gibson's doing. With Naomi having recovered from her trauma, Gibson tries to stop the car but it's too late, the Griffon has developed a mind of its own due to its chronic modifications leaving the couple trapped inside. The desperate situation soon turns into a rescue mission for the Knight Sabers, but only Priss riding the Highway Star, the only bike fast enough to catch the Griffon, can rescue both Gibson and Naomi, but should she fail, there'll be a whole new meaning to the phrase "high speed impact!". Episode 5 - Moonlight Rambler
A group of woman, Meg, Lou, Sylvie and an injured Anri, are trying to escape from Genaros, the SDPC's orbital space station and supply centre for the Moon base, however, they are being pursued by Genaros's security personnel in Linear pursuit cars. Having stolen a Linear patrol car, the girls are able to shake off their pursuers, though this only worsens their problems as two Doberman space combat Boomers are unleashed to hunt down and kill the fugitives. The group manage to arrive at their designated docking bay where they meet up with Nam, another escapee, who's prepared the Orca-4 shuttle ready for departure, however, as the girls start boarding the shuttle the two Dobermans blast their way through the docking bay doors opening fire. In the heat of the battle Nam is stabbed by falling ceiling debris but manages to secure Sylvie, against her wishes, and Anri inside the shuttle. Meg and Lou are helplessly gunned down. Sylvie then launches the shuttle departed for Earth, leaving her fallen comrades behind, however, with the shuttle damaged by Doberman fire the girls soon find themselves in for an unplanned crash landing. The stolen Orca shuttle also had the D.D. airborne battle mover on board that was built with the intention of being sold on by a GENOM splinter group. Having lost the D.D. and desperate to get it back without alerting GENOM, Flint, director of the GPCC, orders Kaufman, high ranking official at the SDPC and also in on the illegal sale, to retrieve the stolen prototype battle mover. Kaufman decides to take no risks and so chooses to hire the Knight Sabers to take out the D.D. leaving no evidence of its existence. Flint also has other secrets that he wishes kept hidden from GENOM. He is shielding the existence of Largo, an advanced Super Boomer equipped with Cynthia's black box, actually Largo is Brian J. Mason! Mason took the precaution of down loading his consciousness into a Boomer body before his confrontation with the Knight Sabers which resulted in his virtual death. AD Police, who earlier visited the shuttle crash site, open an investigation into the recent spree of vampire like attacks on the citizens of Mega Tokyo. They come up with the possible idea that the attacker is a BU-33S Sexaroid. Although Sexaroids are illegal, no longer manufactured and need no maintenance instead relying on oxygenated blood like humans, an injured model would require fresh samples of blood to stay alive. Priss doesn't realise it, but she has become a close friend with the killer, Sylvie, who has been unwillingly making the attacks using the D.D. to help keep Anri alive. Sylvie learns that the BU-33S design data disk is at the GPCC and with the data she could heal Anri's wounds, however, she is caught stealing the data disk and pursued by two Boomers, whilst escaping, off the road where she falls down into the Mega Tokyo Kanto fault line. The chase is spotted by AD Police who unofficially send in Leon, in his K-12S Battle suit, to stop the D.D. Wounded by the fall, Sylvie summons the D.D. and dispatches her opponents with ease, though her wounds have grown to the point where the D.D.'s own consciousness takes over deciding that its operator is too unstable to fight. The D.D. goes into a killing frenzy lashing out at anything close by to prevent its operator from taking damage. Leon, out classed by the D.D., finds himself at the end of the road, unable to defeat the giant killer, only the sudden intervention of the Knight Sabers prevents him from getting his head blown off. Priss, now knowing that Sylvie is the trapped killer pilot, can't bring herself to kill the D.D. The other Knight Sabers are unable to bring down the D.D. without Priss's help, and to add to the nightmare the D.D.'s micro neutron bomb is set to detonate when it runs out of power, in three minutes! The situation is desperate, either Priss gets her act together and kills Sylvie or Mega Tokyo is annihilated! Episode 6 - Red Eyes
With stage one of his plan successfully completed; the fall of Flint as director of the GPCC, Largo, now in control of the GPCC himself, turns his attention to the next stage of his operation. Largo is a megalomaniac with no respect for human life who's now plotting the destruction of Quincy, and furthermore GENOM! Largo intends to replace GENOM as ruler of the world, a self proclaimed God, with an army of Cyberdroids at his disposal, however, to achieve his dream Largo must first steal the secret OMS system from GENOM. The Knight Sabers break into a GENOM warehouse and steal a container full of combat Boomers! Actually these are fakes, three Hyper Boomers, secretly developed under Largo's orders, and Anri disguised as Nene. Anri's been lied to by Largo who claims to be able to create a better world, a world where Cyberdroids can exist peacefully alongside humans. Desperate to get rid of the Knight Sabers to prevent them from interfering with his plans, Largo is using Anri's hatred towards the group, having killed Sylvie, to dirty their name. He issues a challenge knowing that the framed Knight Sabers can't just refuse and walk away from the situation thus allowing him to pit his superior Hyper Boomers against them, putting an end to his problems whilst satisfying his own personal vengeance. Having infiltrated GENOM as a fairly high ranking official going under the name of Milly Jackson, Anri gains access to defence minister Callahan's diary. With this information Largo intends to kidnap the minister in exchange for the OMS and a meeting with Quincy in person. The Knight Sabers engage the Hyper Boomers minus one Priss. She's in shock having killed Sylvie and wants out of the team. Meanwhile Largo and Anri head off to the GENOM tower to trade the minister, however, first Largo must deal with the Boomer tailing them. Although Largo destroys the Boomer with ease using one VA-61 satellite weapon, he attracts the attention of the AD Police in doing so. Leon arrives on the scene and again comes close to being killed, but is saved by a lucky shot from a passing Priss. Largo gets impatient, discharging the VA-61 again, this time at Priss. Miraculously Priss survives, however, her new bike is scrap and Largo's gone. Before being fired at, Priss noticed Anri driving Largo's car to the GENOM tower and so decides to take her Hard suit from the base to rescue her. A wounded Leon, knowing that Priss is a Knight Saber from the D.D. incident, tells her to leave the situation to the AD Police, but Priss feels responsible and ignores Leon's advice. She was the one who killed Sylvie and had to break word of Sylvie's death to Anri. She also gave Anri the data disk Sylvie stole from the GPCC. While all of this is happening, Sylia, Linna and Nene are finding themselves in serious trouble. They are barely managing to slow down Largo's Hyper Boomers, even in their new upgraded Hard suits, and are beginning to tire. Fortunately Mackie turns up in the Sky Carrier and manages to pull the team out in one piece, but they don't have long to recover though as Mackie explains that Priss has taken her old Hard suit from the base. Largo and Anri finally make it to the GENOM tower where they find themselves confronting Quincy himself, but when Quincy ignores Largo's request for the OMS, instead offering him a job at GENOM, Largo decides that a severe demonstration of his power is in order. By targeting the majority of the GENOM towers around the world with satellite weapons, Quincy can only look on in horror as his dreams and power explode before him on the multiviewer, not to mention the death toll! Having dispatched of Quincy's bodyguards, Largo soon discovers that the Quincy standing before him is in fact an android fake. Priss arrives on the scene in her old Hard suit where she is greeted by a revenge driven Anri who manages to stab her in the side. A wounded Priss explains that she had no choice but to kill Sylvie to save the city. Largo discharges a gravity blast at Priss as pay back, however, Anri, realising her mistake and Largo's true intentions, takes the front of the blast to save Priss. Anri dies in Priss's arms, all that Sylvie had gone through had been for nothing, they were merely a part of Largo's plan. As Anri slips into unconsciousness Priss swears to avenge the deaths of both Sylvie and Anri, but in her old damaged suit, wounded, and up against Largo and his Hyper Boomers, this could well be the last mistake Priss will ever make. Episode 7 - Double Vision
Ending her self-imposed retirement, Vision, aka Reika Chang, a popular American rock singer is making a storming come back into the music scene one year after the death of her little sister, Irene Can., and is kicking off proceedings with a new world tour starting in Mega Tokyo. It's March 26 and Yamada, a GENOM executive, along with the chairman of the Gulf and Bradley corporation have just finished the successful signing of a joint partnership project between the two mega corporations to develop a new type of combat Boomer. As the signatories, accompanied by a Boomer bodyguard, leave the building based in Houston, Texas, they are viciously attacked by a crab like battle mover which brutally kills all the men involved in the signing, except one. Fortunately Dr. Richard McLaren, intended to head the new project, manages to survive long enough in time for the Police to arrive in force who scare off the killer. As the possible list of killers is so huge the American Police effectively ditch the case; the killer is long gone and stands next to no chance of being traced. June 8, Vision is giving a press conference in Mega Tokyo, she talks about the tour and the change in mood of her music due to past events. Linna, whilst watching the conference on television, feels that she has met Vision somewhere before, but can't quite remember. The next day Kou, trusted personal assistant to the head of the Chang corporation, heads a group of engineers in preparing the GD-42, the same mecha responsible for the attack at the Gulf and Bradley building, for it's next mission. Reika and Kou were piloting the battle mover on its last outing, this time they intend to successfully kidnap Dr. McLaren who by now is working on the new Boomer project at a secret GENOM research centre. Reika killed the chairman of Gulf and Bradley due to his hand in the death of her parents, son and daughter in law to the head of the Chang corporation. Reika's grand father is providing her with the means, and Reika herself with the motivation, now she wants Quincy dead for the death of Irene and is planning to lure him into her clutches using McLaren as bait, Reika's tour is merely a convenient cover for her true intentions. That evening, however, their planed kidnapping fails as a GENOM scientist accidentally gets in the way of the GD-42, Reika can't bring herself to kill the civilian and so hesitates giving GENOM enough time to dispatch combat Boomers. Although they destroy nine of the Boomers, they attract too much outside attention and so abort the mission. Leon turns up in the morning to inspect the damage but is forcefully prevented from searching the site, he suspects that GENOM are covering up the development of yet another illegal combat Boomer. Later that day, Sylia meets up with Fargo her informant, this time at an amusement park, who briefs her on the latest job for the Knight Sabers; to protect Dr. McLaren. Sylia reluctantly accepts the job due to the huge payment on offer, though she doesn't usually take to protecting GENOM scientists. June 11, Chief Todo puts Leon and Daley on paid leave after Leon hits the roof, again, about being told to drop a case. The Chief knows that he has to tread carefully as GENOM practically controls the government which setup the AD Police in the first place, but he too would like to see GENOM pay for its crimes. The next day McLaren, whilst staying at a hotel on paid R&R as ordered by Quincy due to recent events, calls for a call girl, however, the message is intercepted by Kou's men. They send up Reika instead who drugs McLaren, subsequently McLaren is rushed to hospital in an ambulance, though the drivers of the vehicle are actually Kou's men. Sylia's team have been monitoring the situation under cover and so send Priss after the ambulance to bring back McLaren. She is unexpectedly confronted by the GD-42 and as a result finds herself getting badly trashed, along with a broken arm. Meanwhile Linna follows Reika from the hotel to Irene's grave but is caught by one of Kou's men. Linna is taken back to the GD-42 hideout where Reika confronts her. Linna finally recognises Reika as Vision and hence Irene's elder sister, and Reika, Linna as a friend of Irene's from an old photo. Reika realises that Linna isn't a threat and so explains her intention to kill Quincy as revenge for Irene's death, after which Linna is locked up until the completion of the next mission. The next day Kou arranges a meeting with Quincy on one of GENOM's many artificial islands, the story is that there they will discuss Kou's demands for returning McLaren. June 14, the day of Vision's opening concert in Meag Tokyo, but first she has to take care of other business. Priss, having cut off her cast, tracks down Linna setting her free. As they leave the GD-42's hideout they notice a suspect looking ship with large cargo headed out to GENOM's artificial island. Reika and Kou show up in the GD-42 and kill Quincy only to find that the Quincy they've killed is another android fake. Quincy's not stupid, he's foreseen the incident and so decides to put an end to both Reika and Kou by engaging them, along with the Knight Sabers who have arrived to protect McLaren, with the new completed prototype combat Boomer. It's also worth mentioning that the island is in fact a secret GENOM combat Boomer testing ground rigged with all kinds of explosives! Episode 8 - Scoop Chase
Having just destroyed their opponents, the Knight Sabers hear a noise coming from a near by derelict building, Priss suspects somebody's been over watching the fight and so immediately checks out the situation where upon she finds a young reporter clutching her camera whilst shaking nervously. Preferring the Knight Sabers not to be tomorrow's headlines, Priss restrains the girl forcing her to drop her camera, crushes it under her foot and then leaves the girl, who by now is yelling abuse at the fleeing vigilantes for the destruction of her treasured camera. Nene arrives ready for work the next day at AD Police HQ, there, however, she finds a surprise install for her as she is called into the Chief's office. The Chief has decided to finally let his niece Lisa Vanette, the girl caught photographing the Knight Sabers in action, hang around AD Police HQ in search of her big scoop. Consequently Nene's job now includes babysitting Lisa and showing her around. Nene merely sees looking after Lisa as another chore she could do without, she doesn't realise that this is the same reporter Priss caught last night. While all this is going on, genius, although also crazed, Dr. Miriam Yoshida is setting his plan in motion, that being to destroy the Knight Sabers thus gaining him instant respect and power within GENOM. He's sick and tired of his employer gaining all the credit and appraisal for the creation of his new inventions, but by taking out the Knight Sabers, Miriam's career prospects within GENOM would be excelled to no end. To achieve his goal, Miriam dispatches two scout Boomers which are designed to analyse their opponents capabilities, and so engaging the Knight Sabers with these scouts will supply him with the necessary information that he requires in order to build Hard suit superior combat Boomers. AD Police receive word of a rampaging Boomer incident, Leon's squad is out dealing with another situation, therefore Chief Todo sends in Daley's squad, meanwhile Nene receives a call from Sylia and so ditches her babysitting job. Lisa is getting no where with her big scoop inside AD Police HQ, so she decides to tag along with Daley's squad. Daley doesn't really have much say in the matter, if he forces Lisa to stay behind he'll get fired, but should Lisa get hurt on the street he'll also get fired, but with much pleading from Lisa he reluctantly gives in and agrees to let her accompany him. When they arrive at the scene Lisa ventures outside onto the top of a building despite being told by Daley to stay put, where she hopes to get some decent shots of the action. The building she's perched herself on is adjacent to the one where a fight between Miriam's scout Boomers and the Knight Sabers is taking place. Here she hopes to get her big scoop; exposing the identities of the Knight Sabers as payback for trashing her camera. Although the Knight Sabers finish off Miriam's scout Boomers with ease, a lucky shot against a hapless Nene resulted in smashing her helmet to bits. Normally this wouldn't pose any kind of a problem, however, when a certain young reporter comes into AD Police HQ the following day waving a photo of a red head in a smash up Hard suit at Nene, things can only go from good to bad. The photo isn't clear enough for Lisa to be sure, but considering Nene disappeared from AD Police HQ minutes before the fight, Lisa has her suspicions. All Nene can do is play dumb to the whole affair by feeding Lisa with stupid excuses of her where abouts at the time. To add to Nene's bad day, Sylia has called the team together for a series of performance analysis tests to take place under Dr. Raven's Garage as she needs the data to perfect the Knight Sabers' Hard suits. Nene's performance is down, and when Priss drags Nene onto the electronic scales they soon find out why. Whilst Priss and Linna are busy mocking Nene below, Mackie, busy working up top in the garage, has noticed a girl snooping around outside. Nene's been tailed from AD Police HQ after work to Dr. Raven's Garage, both Priss and Nene recognise the girl over the security monitors, put two and two together and come up with Lisa's motive for exposing the Knight Sabers' identities. As always it's up to Sylia to carefully sort out the mess. Having been given the slip by Nene on leaving Dr. Raven's garage, Lisa decides to hang around near Nene's apartment figuring that she'll have to turn up some time soon, but instead Sylia turns up. She and Lisa have a long chat about the city's armoured vigilantes, without revealing any identities, which helps to persuade Lisa that the Knight Sabers should be left alone. Sylia gets a call from Fargo wishing to meet up with her at a drive in cinema, apparently he wants to discuss the latest series of fights the Knight Sabers have been up against, but although this is true, Sylia also finds herself having to fend off his advances towards her. Apparently Fargo's found out that an individual, not GENOM directly, is behind the Knight Sabers' recent encounters and that Sylia should be prepared. Miriam sends his newly developed combat Boomers into AD Police HQ on their new mission to level the building drawing out the Knight Sabers for the last time. As most of the AD Police are always out on duty capturing the building is simple, and sure enough the Knight Sabers turn up. The Doctor has sealed AD Police HQ with his Boomers, the Knight Sabers and one stranded Lisa Vanette inside. Miriam has done this by fusing his computer Boomer with AD Police's security systems. Now Sylia, Priss and Linna have to down the remaining three specialised assault Boomers whilst Nene and Mackie try to save trapped Lisa, oh and prevent AD Police HQ from self destructing! |
